Exhibition at Galería Full Art, "gramar, trames". Painting.

2003 winter

Line, forms, colours and the complete simultaneous arrangement; all this and only this constitutes the language of the painting. The tradition exalts certain formulations and proposes to use them as models to understand the world with all its shades and details. But they are models that have been established in a certain era and place. The painting, like a living language, a discipline and a creation, wishes to reformulate its essentials components in order to keep being determinante in the context in which it takes place.
David López Panea, the artist who exhibits at Galería Full Art in Sevilla, who has had some individual exhibitions during the last years (one at the Colegio de Aparejadores and one at Galeria Virgenes), is one of the young artists who sharpens his weapons to try, at least, to take the generational relief within the Sevillian scene, where it seems that the latest courses given by the painter Juan F. Lacomba are some king of "fountain" of new artists.
In his exhibition, David López Panea abandons his existential and scenographical interest in the vertical interiors, where they even have narrative or dramatic aspects, and assumes an investigation on the fundamental forms and how they fit in the pictorial space.
SHis use of technique is also the act of painting, in which he chooses and pours simple shapes that search for his symbolic ratification in the space of the picture, in this way articulating messages of energy in order to approach and update the essential archetypes that contribute to the profound imagery of humankind.Painting at the present time is still observing, catching the signals and signs that nature emits and spilling them onto the canvas. David López Panea, the artist of which we speak, is on his way.
